Accessibility

We want this site to be usable by as many people as possible, whatever technology they use. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, and we design against 2.2 where we can.

What we've done

• Semantic, structured HTML with a logical heading order and landmark regions.
• A “skip to content” link, and a full keyboard path through the site, including the navigation menu.
• Visible focus outlines so keyboard users can always see where they are.
• Descriptive labels on interactive controls, and decorative graphics hidden from assistive technology.
• Colour contrast checked against the AA thresholds for text.
• Respect for the “reduce motion” setting: animations and the moving hero background are switched off when you ask your system to reduce motion.
• A responsive layout that reflows for small screens and supports zooming and larger text without loss of content.
• The site works without JavaScript; interactive enhancements degrade gracefully.

Known limitations

The site uses illustrative background graphics and a subtle animated field in the homepage hero. These are decorative, are hidden from assistive technology, and are disabled when reduced motion is requested. If you come across anything that is hard to use, we would genuinely like to hear about it.

Compatibility

The site is built to work with current versions of the major browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari) on desktop and mobile, and to be usable with screen readers and other assistive technologies.
